After the Bell: Mixed Trading and MNI Amends Credit
Jen: Just when you think things are going to calm down, they start right back up again. The Dow closed up 121 points gaining about 1% capping a week full of uncertainty and fear.
Newspaper stocks mostly gained. That includes McClatchy (NYSE: MNI) up 5.8% or 25 cents closing at $4.50. The company issued a press release after the markets closed that it amended its credit agreement.
Shares in Gannett (NYSE: GCI) rose 25 cents (+1.3%) to $18.20.
Basking in good readership numbers, Lee Enterprises (NYSE: LEE) increased 4% or 13 cents to $3.35.
The New York Times (NYSE: NYT) inched up 3 cents to $14.92. (Columbus sailed the ocean blue!)
Today's losers: A.H. Belo (NYSE: AHC), down 26 cents to $5.19. Media General (NYSE: MEG) lost 79 cents closing at $12.70. Shares in E.W. Scripps (NYSE: SSP) lost 1.7% closing at $7.48. The Washington Post (NYSE: WPO) was down 1.1% to $563.58.
